Get Your Data Right For The Year Ahead

Happy New Year, Non-Profit Nation! Following the rush and stress of year-end fundraising, now is a great time to start dreaming about the year ahead and what you might want to accomplish for your org.
Undoubtedly, some of those tasks on the to-do list probably involve your Salesforce data. Maybe it's cleaning up those records from year-end donors, or importing data from that spreadsheet that's been sitting on your desktop for three months. Whatever the challenge, I've got some more data loading how-to coming your way, to get you started in 2014.
Last we spoke, I shared a video on updating Salesforce records through data loading. Well, ever since then I've been putting together even more instructional videos on the basics of data loading in Salesforce.
If you head on over to our videos, you'll find lessons on:

  • Installing and Connecting Jitterbit - I was so excited to get into the fun stuff in the first lesson that I didn't have a chance to show you how to get started from scratch!
  • Exporting - Sometimes you need to see data outside of Salesforce, or move it to another platform.
  • Importing - Bring new records in without having to manually create each one!
  • Upserting - One of my favorite portmanteaus and an extremely useful operation when you've got data to add and update, but you don't know which is which.
  • Deleting - It's rare, but occasionally it's time to break up with data that just isn't working for you anymore.

And stay tuned for upcoming lessons in data loading, including some advanced tricks and techniques for working with data before you actually try to load it in to Salesforce.
